When I came across the IlluStory Junior “Make Your Own Book” kit by Lulu Jr., I could barely contain my excitement. This was just the type of activity I would have loved to have myself as a child. Naturally I assumed my 9 year old would be just as thrilled and boy was I wrong.
Now don’t get me wrong, the IlluStory Junior kit is well put together and I plan on purchasing their other kits in the near future as well. It includes: Washable markers, book pages for your story and a pre-paid postage envelope. Upon giving it to my son, he was appreciative but didn’t share my same enthusiasm. Therefore it became a forced activity until I encouraged him to write about what he loves: Minecraft.
The book is printed as is, therefore encourage your Kiddie to use their best handwriting.
Once the printed book was mailed back to us, my son was thrilled to see the final product. Anytime we have guest, the first thing he does is show off his book. He has even admitted that he wishes he would have put more effort into getting it done.
With that said, this is definitely something that I would recommend to others. The directions were simple to follow and the kit included everything needed to get the job done. You can order more books for loved ones and it also comes with a free poster of the books cover page.
